Heartwarming and Heartbreaking Stories:

Onward Podcast host Emily Harman and her friend Lori Staley talk about how pets can help us overcome adversity. Pets help us get through the most devastating times of our lives and Lori shares how her dog, Roxy, saved her life. In addition, they share heartwarming stories of the role pets have played in their lives. Finally, Emily and Lori discuss how Jackson, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, came into their lives. It’s a story that’s heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Also, Jackson’s previous owner reached out to Emily to share her story of overcoming adversity. Furthermore, she wanted to be a guest on the Onward Podcast; however, a series of unfortunate circumstances prevented that from occurring.

Emily’s guest, Lori is the Secretary and Choral Director for her church. A transplant from Northern Virginia, Lori came to Woodstock, VA in 2007 seeking a calmer life. Furthermore, Lori is a Certified Massage Therapist, very active in theatre, and President of the Board/Artistic Director at Theatre Shenandoah in Edinburg, VA. Theater is a big part of Lori’s life. In other words, Lori has been involved in theatre for almost 40 years, working both professionally and non-professionally throughout Virginia and Maryland. In addition, Lori appeared in numerous regional commercials and several independent films.

Finally, pets reduce stress and prevent loneliness. A pet can be a good companion—especially if you live alone and especially during self isolation due to COVID-19.
