Do you know the importance of discovering your internal core values? My guest, Roy Cook, discovered the importance of knowing our values by learning from Stephen R. Covey and Hyrum Smith. They promised that if we find our 10-20 internal core values and live each day consistent with them, we’ll find fulfillment and peace of mind. Consequently, Roy did so and retired eleven years later, financially independent. And, Roy wrote a book about that experience, A Fools Errand.

Roy says our internal core values have probably been part of us since birth. Also, discovering and using our personal internal core values enables us to accomplish our goals. And, knowing our values must come prior to the selection of goals. In other words, if we’re climbing the ladder to success, how do we know we placed it against the right wall?
